Ambiance and Service
Kingstide exudes the charm of a waterfront plantation home from the outside, inviting you with its classic and elegant appearance. However, once inside, the main dining area transforms into a coastal casual chic retreat, blending sophistication with a relaxed, seaside vibe. Upstairs, you’ll find a stunning bar and a wrap-around porch, offering the perfect spot to unwind while watching the sunset over the water.
On either floor, you’ll be greeted and served with care and attention. The staff is exceptional at ensuring that all patrons feel welcome and well-cared for, making every dining experience special.
Appetizers
I’ve sampled Oysters Rockefeller in many places across the country, and Kingstide’s version is the best—the creamed spinach complements rather than overpowers the oyster. Simply amazing! The Low Country Chowder, made with clams, potatoes, and bacon, never disappoints. While all the salads are good, the KT Cobb is out of this world, especially if you’re looking for something without fish.
Main Coarse
Kingstide not only offers a standard menu but also provides a selection of seasonal fish, which I’ve ordered many times. Each time, it’s a different variety—always fresh and perfectly seasoned. The seafood staples include seared scallops, seared tuna, trout, and the stunning black seafood pasta known as ‘Pasta Nero.’
While my husband’s favorite is the seared tuna, I prefer to take the risk with the seasonal fish, and I’ve never been disappointed.
For those who aren’t fish lovers, there’s no need to worry. The menu also features roasted chicken and a variety of steaks. My husband and I both adore the Flat Iron steak, cooked medium rare—always juicy and delicious.
And of course, you’ll need something to accompany your protein. The menu includes grilled, crispy, and even pickled veggies. If you’re in the mood for something a bit less healthy, try the seasoned fries, which can be customized to your liking.
Desserts
Now, onto dessert! While the menu changes from time to time, the Key Lime pie and Carrot cake are usually available, and both are absolutely delicious. My husband and I can never decide which one we prefer, especially since we often get tempted by the seasonal desserts that also make an appearance.
Final Thoughts
When you’re in the Daniel Island area, a visit to Kingstide is an absolute must. From the fresh, seasonal seafood to the mouthwatering desserts, every dish is crafted with care and bursting with flavor.
Whether you’re indulging in their perfectly seared tuna, savoring a slice of their decadent Key Lime pie, or exploring their ever-changing seasonal offerings, Kingstide promises a dining experience you won’t soon forget. Trust me, you won’t be sorry—and your tummy will thank you for it! 🙂
